Hello
I have explained to a handful of people how to downgrade their GTA V to an earlier patch. As I keep seeing people ask, I thought I would make a post on it. I have only downgraded with the steam version but the process is likely similar with other versions.
Gta V 1 40
Steam guide
Step 1: Download the patch you want (it is three files). Here is a link to patch 1.24 files https://mega.co.nz/#F!q88RwL5I!Rk136GJGXNNAo2bAtKiAYQ
Here is a link to patch 1.27 files http://www.4shared.com/zip/AhtZwMuqce/GTA5_103722.html
Step 2: Go to your main hard drive -> program files -> 'Steam' folder -> 'steamapps' folder -> 'common' folder -> 'Grand theft auto V' folder.
Step 3: Copy the files: 'GTA5, GTAVLauncher and update.rpf' onto your desktop (the update.rpf is found in the update folder). You can use these to revert back to your current patch if you need to. This isn't strictly necessary but you may as well keep a copy of the files.
Step 4: Go back to your GTA V folder and replace the original copies of the three files I just mentioned with the new files that you downloaded, these being either the 1.24 patch or the 1.27 patch.
Step 5: Now start your game.
After comparing 1.24 and 1.27, I had much better fps and smoothness of 1.27 than 1.24 but both were infinitely better than 1.28 or 1.28 with the fix.
If this doesn't work for some reason try it this way:
Step 6: Put your original GTA5, GTAVLauncher and update.rpf patch files back where they belong, then start the game normally.
Step 7: Close the game using task manager, which will cause the game to come up with the 'Grand theft auto V exited unexpectedly' prompt and give you the option of 'retry' or 'safe mode'.
Step 8: Leave that prompt without clicking anything and now go and replace your three files with the older patch files as described above (Leave the prompt open still!).
Step 9: Once replaced, click the retry button to start your game again. This will load into the patch you desire.
Verifying the steam cache will put you back at the latest patch and a new patch release should update as normal. I do not play online, I only play single player, so I have no idea if you can play online on earlier patches.
