I've been trying to find a copy or a repro of Gimmick to play on my NTSC-U NES, however I learned that there are two versions of the game I can get: One that just works on the NES, and one with enhanced audio output. Being the greedy bastard I am for game enhancements, I am generally looking for the one with the full audio capability. However, in order to do so, I will have to mod my NES to install a special chip for the audio to work, similar to an FM mod on a Sega Master System. Because I like my NES mod-free and don't want to be short-handed on a game like this, I was wondering...
Would it be easier/make more sense to seek out a Famicom version of Gimmick, and then apply that to a Famicom-to-NES converter (which I have)? If so, would the audio enhancements still work through the cart or do I still have to mod my NES?
If anyone knows how this works, then please let me know, because I really want to play this game on my NES, full audio capabilities included. Thanks!
