Fallout2 Hi-Res Patch is a mod for Fallout 2, created by Matt 'Mash' Wells.This program modifies 'fallout2.exe' in memory for the purposes of increasing the visual resolution, playing in a window and other enhancements. I think you missunderstood,download the official patch,use the fallout2.exe from it,then install f2res,should work fine(its what i do). I installed Fallout 2 (Gog.com). I installed Megamod 2.44.

Fallout 2 Patch 1.2
The English version of the Fallout 1.5: Resurrection mod, created by Resurrection Team. This is a huge mod for Fallout 2 which offers an extensive campaign that should take about 25 hours long to complete. The story takes place between Fallout 1 and 2 – in the State of New Mexico.
This mod includes the High Resolution patch which allows players to adjust the game to the resolutions of modernmonitors.
